Extended Care and Summer Fun

Extended Care

Every family’s schedule is unique. We offer extended care as a service to parents who require safe, consistent care at times when school is not in session. We also offer an enriching Summer Program that is convenient for returning families, as well as new families who want to transition into the Fall Program.

Summer Fun Program

During the summer we continue to offer our “Summer Fun” program to help working families give their children a fun and safe experience during the summer months. We also invite families to use this seasonal program as a way to become familiar with our school and smoothly transition children into the Fall Program. Parents can sign up for the weeks they need and extended care is also available.

Summer Fun offers enriched science and cultural themes and units with various activities, songs, cultural dances, food and clothing. To give you an example, our themes for the summer of 2013 were Astronomy, Summer Pastimes (sewing, clay, painting, drawing, sculpturing, gardening, cooking and drama), Geography, and Creatures of the Night.

Most of the Rising Star parents are working parents with hectic schedules. The extended hours are incredibly helpful to support Rising Star School families.

Extended Care

The Extended Care Program is separate from basic school curriculum and is offered at an additional fee. The program has been designed with developmentally appropriate activities and is adequately staffed for the safety and security of the children.

The Extended Care Program may include daily activities such as: Arts and Crafts, Sports, Park Day, Music and Movements, “Kid’s Kuisine”, “Homework Club”, Table Games and Performing Arts. Activities are scheduled with consideration in mind for the all day child.

Cottage Extended Care Hours (Monday – Friday)

  • Before school 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM
  • After school 3:00 PM to 6 PM

High Street Extended Care Hours (Monday – Friday)

  • Before school 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM
  • After school 3:00 PM to 6 PM

Holiday Daycare

We understand that for weekdays when school is not in session, not all parents are able to take days off from work to care for their children. Finding childcare for that one day can be difficult for both you and your child.

For some school holidays, and all Parent/Teacher Conference days we offer “Holiday Daycare”. The Cottage hours are from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and High Street hours are from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

On Parent/Teacher Conference Days, Holiday Daycare as well as the conference is held at the campus the child attends. All other Holiday Daycare Days are at the High Street campus and the hours are from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.
