Educational Director

Katrina Ross has served as school’s Educational Director for 18 years and has been a devoted educator and Montessori practitioner for over 30 years. As director, she leads the school in professional development of staff, promotes educational excellence among the children, and strives to create a sense of family and community that embodies the school’s mission. Prior to her role as director, she started her Rising Star tenure as a preschool teacher for three years at the Cottage Campus, before serving as the school’s Kindergarten teacher for six years. Throughout her career she has served on educational panels, taught teacher training workshops, and child development organizations. She is also a Montessori child development consultant for the Montessori Education Training Center, where she received her Montessori teaching credential. She studied Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley and her affiliations and memberships include PACE, AMS, and NAEYC. For nine years she has served as an active board member and president of the non-profit organization Link to Children.

Katrina is a Bay Area native and proud mother of two successful Rising Star graduates. She remains committed to the education and mentoring of teachers to improve student teacher interactions, student outcomes and community outreach. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, swimming, exercising, music and dancing and spending time with family and friends.
